Homeschooling 101

Basics, Resources, Websites & Such

Every good homeschooler needs a schedule – it doesn’t have to be super detailed or super organized, but you at least need to know who is doing what and when. For our family of 4 children, we have a pretty specified schedule on paper, but we tend to be more flexible in actuality. I schedule an hour for each core subject, even though we may not need the full hour. That allows us to work ahead and finish early or text extra breaks. Some days, those surprise free minutes are much needed! Friday afternoons are intentionally left open. We use that time to play catch up, go to the library, or hone our life skills (menu planning, budgeting, and grocery shopping).

I created our schedule using Excel, but you can do it in Word or just with pen and paper. Whatever works for you!
